Castle Apothecary Scotland Recognised by Prevented Ocean Plastic™ for Sustainable Packaging Commitment

Castle Apothecary Scotland is proud to announce its recognition by Prevented Ocean Plastic™, a leading global initiative that certifies sustainable packaging made from recycled plastic collected from at-risk coastal areas. This achievement underscores Castle Apothecary Scotland’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and reducing ocean plastic pollution.

Prevented Ocean Plastic™ is a global initiative focused on preventing plastic waste from entering the ocean by collecting and recycling plastic from coastal areas. It ensures traceability from coastline collection through to recycled packaging, offering consumers a better plastic choice. Every product bearing the Prevented Ocean Plastic™ logo signifies a tangible effort to prevent plastic waste from reaching the ocean. Castle Apothecary now stands alongside globally renowned brands such as Lidl, Lush, LVMH, and Patagonia, which also proudly display the Prevented Ocean Plastic™ logo on their packaging.

Founder Alison MacColl shared her excitement about the recognition:
"On the run-up to the festive season last year, my stock of recycled PET bottles was running low, and sourcing small quantities proved challenging for a business of my size. While researching alternatives, I was delighted to find that The Plastic Bottles Company, my supplier for larger jars, now offered tall Boston-shaped bottles made from Prevented Ocean Plastic™. Learning about this accreditation was a game-changer for me as an eco-conscious brand. It not only made my decision to rebrand with these bottles clear but also reinforced my commitment to reducing plastic waste."

Raffi Schieir, Founder of Prevented Ocean Plastic™, praised Castle Apothecary’s efforts:
"It’s amazing that Castle Apothecary is making a better choice for their plastic and packaging. This decision really helps the Prevented Ocean Plastic™ programme pick up discarded plastic from where it doesn’t belong and give it a new life."

Castle Apothecary is known for its luxurious, natural skincare products inspired by Scotland’s rich botanical heritage. The brand intentionally avoids palm oil and artificial foaming agents, instead opting for locally sourced ingredients and premium natural botanicals that are gentle on the skin and the environment.

This recognition by Prevented Ocean Plastic™ further cements Castle Apothecary Scotland’s dedication to sustainability.
